We continue East off the beaten path to the fascinating Arctic Henge. Set overlooking the Arctic Ocean in remote Raufarhofn, this modern version of Stonehenge is inspired by the Eddic poem Voluspa and Icelandic folklore. Still unfinished, the stone arches are arranged to capture the light of the sun as it moves across the sky. In the far north of Iceland, in an area with a 360 degree open horizon, a unique edifice called the Arctic Henge (see another good page on it here) is being built to mark and catch the sun and other heavenly bodies as they move around the sky.
